funny you should say that, i was at my hockey game tonight, and little did i know, a guy on my team has a 99 gt which almost exactly what i want to do, heatshield and all. He said he'd come supervise. He used a piece of pvc pipe for his cai, but i think im just gonna go with the rice pipe from autozone. When i was checking out the dimensions tonight i saw a plastic black box next to the airbox, can anyone shed some light as to what that is? Any other 98 ssei'* out there wanna let me know how long they made their cai'* it'd be somewhere to start from at least? Thanks Blake

3.4 Pulley, 180 t-stat, autolite 104'*, and a CAI and that should give you an extra 25-30hp, and AT LEAST 50ft.lbs. Since a stock L67 is WAY underrated for torque, it should already be in the low 300'*, stock. These mods should put you at about 270hp, 350ft.lbs. Then take everything out of the car (spare tire and all), drop the front tire pressure to about 23 or so and raise the rear to ~40psi, turn off traction control, drop the exhaust after that cat and I think you will be suprised...not to mention the Mustang driver.

What rpms do you shift at, 6200?

I know with the 3.29 gears the GTP shifts out of 1st at 48mph @ 6150rpm. It'll do 88 in 2nd @ 6150rpm. If we held each gear to the limiter I would bet it would do close to your 57 in 1st and probably 95+ in 2nd...but it wouldn't have an engine that ran properly either...6600rpms will do bad things to a stock internals, stock cammed L67.

Just an FYI....

The GTP is 2.93:1 for gears and the GT (n/a) is 3.29:1. Looking at your 1/4mile times, it looks like you changed yours? I believe the Bonneville is the same, isn't it? I don't know much about when they actually shift though. I questioned teh 270hp but realized you were dead on when talking Crank HP.

You are right about 6600 on a stock GTP. If you want to raise the shift points, you should be doing 90 or 105# springs and more importantly, better lifters. My GT (with a centrifigal supercharger) has a PCM with my shift points at 6500 and I did the entire valvetrain with the cam.

2nd gear shift is commanded at 5800 but actually ends up shifting around 6K, 6200 limiter. 3rd gear shift commanded at 6K and ends up about 6200 right around 100-101mph. (These are WOT shift points....)

You guys must be talking series II because I would red line at 5500, but I can still hit 46 in first and 88 in second, but I can not top out third.
