Bonne vs Mustang Gt

I watched a video that Mike had on his laptop of a totally modded to the chit 97 Mustang GT, it had EVERTHING done to it. And it featured a street race verses a bone stock 2002 Mercedes E55.
Total Mercedes ownage in the first round, and the 2nd round was a bit closer...still the E55 won.
Mustangs can be quick but they certainly arent "all that"

My buddy has a '01 GT Bullit. We have played around a little bit but never out right raced. My SSEi is a formidable opponent for his car but not garunteed to win. Now that said, he also has around 300hp and 310 torque (give or take some). Now the older stangs like the 96 aqnd 98 have around 220hp. I also raced my buddies old v6 stang (and man did I walk all over that one!!!
).
____Bottom line_____
You have a chance. I don't know if I would put money on it, but don't count yourself out either.

Your stock DDEi car would loose against the '98. Even if the GT didn't have the shorter 3.73'*, it would still win. You may have a chance with the '96 if it'* Auto (absolute dog in GT'*), and has 2.73 or 3.08 rear.
alright so i went out against the 96 with a 3.15 rear ratio. Damn, talk about an even match. Two rolling and two dead stops. I took one of each, however they were the first two, prolly because my heat started to build up. Anyways, it turns out that the 98 needs to put 500 miles on those gears before they are broken in, so itll be a couple weeks before we can have a go, however i have a feeling its not gonna be a good result seeing how i fared against a 96. One good thing to report, my stock 98 ssei, did beat a stock 98 gt with 2.73'* for gears. Granted hes not the best driver, however i dont think that wouldve mattered. I'll be sure and let you know however it ends up with other 98 tho.
ya im thinking about doing the rice pipe intake and the 3.4 pulley, thats about all i really want to do because my tranny is acting up lately and i dont want to put more stress on it than i really need to. With those mods my only issue in a race would be traction, because right now, they squeling (sp) all the way to 40 mph, and i think thats the fast launch i have. Anyone with tips on launching our cars would be welcome to comment. I drop the front tire pressure, and took off trac control, but other than that i dont really do anything like power brake or anything, so i could use some tips im sure. thanks

Stock, you may have problems due to FWD, traction and weight. The Bonnie around a 15sec car stock, isn't it? At the very least, drop to a 3.4" pulley and some sort of CAI to get you to mid 14'*. I'm assuming the 98'* had an M90 on a series 2? You most likely already know but the Grand Prix guys remove their drivers side headlight to help pull cooler air at the track.

the headlight will pop right out on our cars, there are some screws to take out but thats it. You will probably need a box of some kind to put on your pipe to keep it from drawing in hot engine bay air.
