i know my bonnie is faster than my old mustang was when it was stock... even with light mods, it was still a dog... watch out for the one with deeper gears though...

A few mods, and you'll be fine. I can tell you that from experience, especially against stock 5.0 or 4.6 mustangs.

remember the stangs are RWD, while the bonnie is a FWD. Pulleys are pretty cheap for what they can do, and the rice pipe from autozone and new muffler and cat, you could probably get all of them for aobut $500.

I have not raced any but my guess is they will probalby take you. Even if you were moded your biggest problem will be traction. Without rockers or a cam your pull above 60 will be way less then what the mustangs are going to do.

If you get a perfect launch, and your racing an inexperianced manual driver you may take them. I wouldn't bet money on it. MHO.

Thanks for all the input guys. One driver is pretty much a badass, but the other two arent anything special. I've raced the 96 on the highway before, and throughout second gear i can generally pull alittle on him, its just the stars that hurt me because we usually go from 30 which is the top of first for him, but mid second for me. Im thinking the 98 will wipe me out tho, because he also has a lighter hood, and a really cool paint job. Anyone from mi know where the closest track would be to someone in the middle of michigan...aka saginaw, midland, or baycity?

30 is at the top of first for you....

Many 5.0L aren't much until you put in a cam and headers

Effin Mustangs, they are beatable (not by me, I only beat a 3.8L but a modded 3800...sure).

I watched a video that Mike had on his laptop of a totally modded to the chit 97 Mustang GT, it had EVERTHING done to it. And it featured a street race verses a bone stock 2002 Mercedes E55.

Total Mercedes ownage in the first round, and the 2nd round was a bit closer...still the E55 won.

Mustangs can be quick but they certainly arent "all that"

57 for me

i know the 00+ GT'* are nothing to sneeze at but i hear the 95-99 GT'* are slow. As i've said I have not run against one (plenty of v6 though, but i stopped picking on them).

If the 96 is the older 5.0 I'm thinking of, you should be able to creep ahead of him. The 98'* will probably win though.

The last 5.0 was in 94 or 95. The first year of the late 90'* gen.
