doesnt the 3.1 have a key that holds the crank pulley on? or is it just pressed on?if so watch so you dont lose it when he gets it off. i would deff check the icm with a multimeter and make sure its turning the ground side on and off before replacing.

Hmm my 90 3.3 would stall while driving and turned out the coolant temp sensor was bad, throwing off the computer.

No, I’m simply adding another possible fix for anyone looking for solutions who is now experiencing the same problem this old thread original poster had and is reading it now.

Isn’t this allowed or is there a better way to do it?

We appreciate that, as these get used by people countless times after their originating issues are solved. At the same time, we do what we can to keep things organized so that the thread stays on subject for all of the other viewers and members. finchca'* original issue is with a 3.1 Chevy V-6, and your 3.3 V-6 is a Buick engine of much different lineage and much different generation of technology. Odds are that the fix isn't be the same.
