Default Installing an aftermarket headunit on a 2000 SLE

I recently upgraded cars from a '96 SE to a 2000 SLE. I had an Alpine CDA-9855 in my '96 and was going to just move it over to the 2000. I bought the correct wiring harness and mounting kit, but when i removed the factroy headunit, there was only a green chip sticking out the it plugged into. Any ideas on how i can rewire this for my aftermarket unit? :?:

Is this something i could just plug into tht circuit board sitting there? http://www.cardomain.com/item/SCOGM07B?vq_id=none

Would that just convert it from what it is now to something i could easily wire?

yes it is similar to that one, but you need to find the Scoche one that fits your car....you may want to give a call to crutchfield and make sure you get the right one

I think that you will lose your door chimes if you do that.

This looks like a fun time i have gotten myself into... and on the scoche link i listed above.... it says 2000-Up Select Models without Bose audio, OnStar, or RDS radio. Would mine apply to any of those? 2000 SLE with the dock and lock CD and casette player

yes that is what you need. then you will have to run a power wire to the head unit as the one inthe harness is no good. it is not that hard but you will lose the door chimes and the low fuel chime. thank you i hated them anyway!!!
