Default Hesitation on acceleration from 0

My 200 Bonneville has 162 k miles on it. Periodically the service engine light has been coming on and satying on for a few days then going off. I seem to have this problem every winter.

Lately though, and I am not sure if this is related or not, but when I acclerate from a stand still, the car hesitates almost like it is condiering stalling out. This only happens when accelerating from 0. It does not happen when changing speeds, only from 0.

I have tried some fuel injector cleaners in the gas tank and switched to super unleaded on some fill ups but the problem does not go away.

Any ideas on what it could be and how much a mechanic would charge to fix it? We are debating whether it is worth taking it in or not. I am only willing to put a few hundred into it as I do not want to waste a lot on a car with so many miles, and because it is old. I am hoping to go one more year in this vehicle, and I only think the problem will get worse if left unchecked.

so other than fuel injector cleaner, what else have you done?
when was the last time it had a complete tune up?

fuel filter
air filter
PCV valve
plugs
wires
O2 sensor

I would have it scanned at a car parts store to see what the engine light is all about. most parts stores scan for free.

Also what trim level is your car? 2000 SE LE SSE SSEi

Once your car is moving down the road, does it run fine?

Todd.

I just now finished a trouble shooting guide that covered that area. Hope this helps.
