I'd be very tempted to replace the entire trans.... Get the one from Nate and pop it in there...
Drain the torque converter and refill, replace the front pump seal and you engines rear main while your there if you haven't done that already...

ok.... after 2 days of driving after the tuneup... it did the crappy idle once again...
next thing to look into...injectors..
we tested the fuel pressure.. about 39-40 while running
after the engine was shut off, pressure slowly leaked down to 30psi in about 2 min.
we did have a MINOR leak at the connection point, maybe a dozen drops in 2 min
is there a way to test the injectors? anything else that would go bad?
