Add in that the pistons, rods and wrist pins are different and you get more of the picture. Boosted applications need more to handle the power. By dropping the compression and putting in stronger parts, GM did a pretty good job. At the same time the NA motor needed more power and therefore got a different CR to help it along.

A stock L26 lower end with a L67 top end. Lots of people are doing this with great results. And the L26 is way newer and cheaper.

Last L26 I found was 58K miles for $300. Sold the UIM and oil pan to help recoup some costs.

No, I have a 3000 stall torque converter, hardened input shaft and 4th gear shaft and 3.29 gears
