I think I'm allowing myself to get discouraged.

I broke the new MAP sensor. :/ The bottom pole just snapped off. Don't suppose that'd be covered by O Riellys warranty lol...

The trouble is trying to put this map sensor into the new style of housing. Like...the old housing has two prongs that slide between the sides of the MAP sensor. The new housing doesnt have prongs, and instead is like a giant clip. It'* a pain...

If I could just fix this problem, then I could actually continue my P0171 search and get to the battery cables and such. Might have the guys at Oreilly look at a new map sensor and this housing and try to get them to put it on hahaha.

How long do codes take to reset after unhooking battery cable?

Fixed the map and pcv...my pcv did not have a spring, and I have now installed one and a brand new pcv/map.

How do I get to the other end of the negative battery cable? (embarassing)

About 20 minuets or so will be fine. The other end of the ground should be in the front under the exhaust where the transmission connects to the engine.

Do I need to jack the car up to get to it? And is there a shield blocking it from under the car?

Dang...Had it off for about 15, started it back up, still having an issue automatically. Was really hoping that was my problem, since my misfire didnt start till after I removed PCV and such. Figured putting a new one and spring would fix it.

Leaving it off overnight but not expecting any different results.

Unplugged the MAF though, and the light stopped flashing for a bit, but was still on steady, and engine still made a loping noise.

Tried to get to EGR tube...it'* the silver tube going towards front of car right? How do I get that off? Got the solenoid off but now what?

Foundmy problem I think.

Isn't attached to the exhaust. Rusted through and snapped off at the back.

If it'* not my problem, it'* a pretty pressing urge.

My next question is though...why does unplugging the MAF get rid of my flashing CEL light, but plugging it in keeps it???

And should I replace anything else when I replace Cat?

Replace the cat and see if that helps. But seeing that unplugging the MAF removes the misfire, makes me think there'* a problem with the MAF. With the MAF plugged in try tapping the top, does the engine stumble? If so, replace the MAF. Try putting a ice cube on top of the MAF, does anything change after a little while? If so, replace the MAF.

See, all my tests for the MAF(ice cube, tapping it) show that the MAF is working fine, and voltage is fine at it. I am getting the p0102 code though, and unplugging it removes misfire, so I'm tempted to replace it again. I replaced MAF last summer with a piece that only had 26000 miles on it...maybe I should have spent the extra money and gotten a new one.

A MAF can be a funny thing. It can pass tests and still be a problem. But one fool proof test is the unplug it test. It could be giving incorrect data to the PCM. Hard to say without a good scan.
