mechanical oil pressure gauge?
Well, because it looks as though my oil pressure readings are just a wacked out gauge i want to install a mechanical gauge permanently. I've never done this but from what i've read you have to remove the sensor for the stock electircal gauge and install the fittings for the mechanical one in the same hole.
when i unhook/remove the sensor what can i do to stop the check gauges light and chime? i don't want to have it going all the time.
what gauge is a good one to get. i want something that looks decent and works well because its going to be permanent.
any suggestions on mounting this? pillar pod?

well i'm pretty sure i'm going to put an aftermarket gauge in, i think i got it all lined up. can anyone with a 95 FSM tell me how to disable the dash gauge though? i guess some wires go to the PCM and some go to the gauge. if i can either just "cut" the gauge lines or put a resistor in to force a high reading that would be great. i just want it to stop throwing the check gauges chime and light every time i let off the gas. I know it won't be functional, but thats the point right now

that THATS awesome... looks like i need to do something with the gauges indicators line...
does anyone know how the sensor works? Its resistance, that i know. but when the resistance gets higher what happens to the gauge? does the pressure increase as well or does it work the other way (higher resistance lower presure...)?

Won't work if you replace one with the other.
Your sender has two contacts in it. One is for the PCM. It disables your fuel pump relay if you lose oil pressure under certain conditions. Are you willing to bypass that also?

I've got a couple oil filter adapters and sensors laying around the shop. I THINK it may be 1/8" NPT (1/8-27 taper). I can double-check later today and let you know. Surprisingly, mine just went back in yesterday. 
I have no idea where these parts are, but Pdad is re-organizing my shop again right now, so he'll know.
