Default Oil pressure gauge, it'* all over the place!!!

Ever since I've owned my Bonnie the oil pressure gauge flies all over the place. It will just sparatically bounce from some to none and then all the way to the pinned position, and then back again. Dosen't matter what the speed is, just all the time. It also dosen't seem to effect the way the car runs. I'm guessing it is just a glitch in the electronics....I hope. Anyone heard of this before? :?

Thanks

Check the connection going to you oil pressure sensor . If the sensor is bad it'* abou 15.00 but you might wanna get a lift cause you need to get under the car !

You may wanna check for diagnostic codes. That would tell you if the sensor is bad. If the sensor doesn't fix it, check the connectors on the back of the cluster. Some of us have had trouble with that in the past. If that doesn't work another trouble spot is where the engine harness passes through the firewall.

I have the same problem. It will be at 40, and then when I idle, it goes down to danger zone. I'm just gonna replace the sending unit.

1. Could be thermostat but probably...........

2. Instrument Cluster. Have you noticed anything funky with the gas gauge too?

Those clusters go south consistently. I'll bet some money it is not the sending unit, but I've been wrong before.

I purchased a rebuilt cluster for about $110 about 5 yrs ago. Still working great.

Now oil pressure is correct and no more false readings with my gas gauge.
