Um, I would be _real_ cautious about doing that: you may end up cooking the socket.
Hey, remember this topic? I've finally gotten around to opening up the console to see why my prindle quadrant won't light up. Have already found (1) the bulb in my console already _is_ a #194 rather than a #161, with no evidence of cooking the socket, and (2) my console has the documented problem of a gap between the bulb housing and the "wick" coming down from the shift quadrant lens.

Heading back down to the garage now to look at this a little more closely, see what I can do, and also see whether or not I've got that "X" on the socket. More news as it happens...
