One brass plug is temporary (between the runners) and will be replaced with a home-fabricated temperature probe when it arrives. Mine is made for a different application, so I have to provide the semi-rigid probe for the thermocouple myself. There will be a small tube attached to the other end of that drilled plug.

The other two modified plugs are to allow for final fitting soldering (through those holes in the LIM), then will be sealed and plugged before use. They only have to withstand 15psi.

Final soldering and leak checks will be tomorrow afternoon after work.

For those that missed it, there are a bunch of nearly-finished pics on the previous page.

Look carefully at this re-posted pic from the previous page to see the fittings exiting the LIM under the nosedrive for the intercooler:

Also, if you look at the LIM pics on the previous page, you'll notice just how very wide that core is in comparison to S2 intercoolers. It'* quite significant. This was probably the key to my success in the original test.

Tomorrow night, we solder the connections, pressure test the system, and continue with the top end build. Some cutting and welding will be necessary on the front end for the intercooler radiator.

Damn! You guys will have her running in no time flat.
That sucks about the CV-shaft..but it was a pretty good guess i suppose.
Its amazing what you can accomplish in minor ammounts of time.

You said it, Mattski. You guys were invaluable. We didn't pull the old motor until Saturday afternoon, and in spite of the slowdowns, this thing will be ready to fire in about 3 more hours (not tonight though, we're beat). Pretty impressive when you consider how much had to move over from the old motor. And the part cleaning and prep time.

Pdad picked up alot of my slack today. I'm still in pretty good pain. Now he'* a bit tired and sore too. But from here on out, it'* easy work on the bench or the top of the motor only.

I have no idea how fast a raped ape is, but it better run like that or faster. And it should.

Even without the IC, this motor will make more power than the last one even before the popped piston, simply due to differences in compression alone.

No work during the day. I'm at work, but we'll be back at it this afternoon.
