Both have their pros/cons..... for daily driveability.... SC... for absolute power... turbo..... that is... if everything else in the engine/transmission can take it.

For those of you still waiting for videos/sounds..... sorry.... but since it only goes to 1-2psi right now... there isn't much sound..... :(

When are you getting the spring for the wastegate . And why arent you running at 10psi anymore the motor took it till 14 psi then the head gasket blew?

I've already got the springs.... they arrived the other day... just haven't installed them yet because we plan to do a fair bit of tuning when we install them.

The 10psi was "pedal controlled"..... ie the boost gauge was watched closely. The 14psi was WOT with the org 1 Bar spring..... which we cut so that it would dramatically drop the boost (because 14psi blew a gasket). We dropped the boost because the other springs had not arrived at that time, and I needed wheels to drive around town while the 97 was/is being worked on, w/o the risk of blowing more gaskets.

There'll be a big tip, sure, but the '91 SSE has a skirt capable of hiding it.

.......... Black Magic Update............

I've got her home for the weekend............

The springs came in last week.... but they haven't solved the problem.... they aren't working. The 5psi wastegate spring from tial, does not blow the wastegate @ 5psi.... it still climbs upto 10psi (maybe even further... we didn't dare test).

Also she'* leaking oil from around the valve covers pretty badly...... so I'm holding off from driving her. actually leaking isn't the word... it looks like she sprayed it up in one or two spots.

Looks like still a lot of work left to be done..... :?

Ouch. I hope you can work through the problems!

Is the crankcase getting pressurized somehow?
