Coolant Leak Under Water Pump
I use the universal Prestone stuff. Haven't had any trouble in at least a decade of using it. I used to use Zerex, but that started to become hard to come by around here a while ago. I also do the same as WilliamE, I buy "concentrate" and mix it with distilled myself.
Really they're all pretty good these days.

It'* just so cold right now, I really did not want to go through a good flush, last time it took me 4-5 flushes before I got totally clean distilled water to come out.
And I am not sure what he did put in there, I know mixing Dex with other coolants is not good, but if I use the Prestone Extended Life, maybe it will be ok for a month or two, till it warms up and I can change it..

I'll deff get all air out of the system, from my understanding and research over the whole Dex Cool debate, what I got from it was that usually the coolant got sludgy from air getting into the system, which made it more acidic, which helped to eat up gaskets already prone to failure.
I believe a HOAT, and OAT, or HOAT and OAT mixed would perform well in a properly maintained coolant system that has an aluminum radiator, one that has good gaskets unlike the LIM 6,6 Nylon/Plastic rimmed crap we have for our 3800'*, and one where the air is always totally bled out, and the coolant is maintained properly, when the majority of the inhibitors are gone replace it, hell replace it before that to be safer than sorry.

Talked to the mechanic today, he said they did a full flush and conversion to the green stuff, he said anything green with Ethylene Glycol will work, I always wanted to to a full flush and conversion, this mechanic is on his A Game when it comes to GM'*
No more Dex Cool for me, even though I still say used correctly and maintained properly it is not a problem...
Yeah it was said the 2-eha additive in Dex caused the nylon 6,6 LIM Gaskets to fail, I still think air assisted it, and heat..
I think I'll go with Zerex Original Green for GM'* 96' and older...
