I did, and the leak starts a tad further back than I could see, I am willing to bet money it is the timing chain gasket, I'd put a hundred on it, lol
At least afterwards I'll have a new timing chain, sprockets, dampener..

The place I am taking it it 6.,4 miles away, it leaks out coolant pretty quick, but I am wondering if I can fill my overflow, maybe run the AC so the fan is on the whole time..
If I do that I wonder if I can make it there,,,, risky I know, I'd have a scan tool hooked to it monitoring temps the whole way, and there are lots of places to pull over if it gets too hot..
Should I risk it, or just spend a good 75$ or so to have it towed?

Also, probably a good idea to take out the new 12 subwoofer I put in my trunk, if not at least take vide of it all in my car just in case...

You think the brand new pump I just put on is bad?
Looking at the dye it does not look like it is coming from the water pump at all, and the leak is way too fast, I'd have had to leave one of the big bolts totally out for it to leak as fast as it is.
I wish it had been the pump, because I have replaced a few of them on 3800 II and III'*, but I just have a gut feeling it is the timing chain cover gasket...

I need to decide if I am going to have it towed, or try to drive the 6.4 miles before it can overheat...

If it was my GP, I'd have it towed in.
Option 2 drive it but have 7-10 gallons of water & pull over frequently to top up, while monitoring temp.

I filled er up with coolant n water, turned AC on to make fans come on, drove at a decent speed, it got hot there at the end, but just a little over 225F, did not stay hot enough for long enough to damage it..
5.4 of the 6.4 miles was a straight away with only a few lights...
The guy will call me Monday to tell me what he found, and how much it will be before he works on it....
Left my speaker in there, and AMP, but took video pics of everything, stating the date, when and where I was taking the car, etc..
He has tall gates with barbed wire on top, and locks his gates, I still put stuff in the trunk to cover up the speaker..
I hope to have it back by Wed of next week, Tuesday if I am lucky...

Ya would be nice to have it back by Tuesday. It should be fine in secured parking.
The GP a/c comes on when it'* cold outside? The Park ave only works when it';* above 48F.
Today was the first day in a while it got above 48 here. Was nice to hear my compressor run again lol.

ok guys, we have a few days until we find out where the leak is coming from! place your bets! LOL!
My guess is it'* the timing chain cover gasket OR the timing chain cover is cracked near the water port. Hopefully it'* just the water pump.
Either way I'm very curious to find out.
BTW did anyone say what a timing chain cover repair kit is? I don't have a clue.
Best of luck WilliamE.

Ha ha, like I said I got a hundred on it being that upper right coolant port in the timing chain gasket, when I seen where the dye came from, and when it got a tad hot today it steamed just a little, and I could see it coming from under the water pump, it was spraying down and back towards the power steering pump area, so I think it is the lower corner of that gasket.
When I put that water pump back I used the proper sealant for the big bolts, I even wire brushed them a tad with my dremmel, they were clean..
Torqued back down to spec, I forget spec now, I know the bigger ones held a tad more than the small ones, I have my Factory Service Manual...

I am guessing the repair kit is the main gasket, water pump gasket, oil pump area gasket, thermostat gasket, a few o rings for coolant elbows, and the seal that you tap on after removing the old one..

Thanks Tommy, hoping for the waterpump to be it too, but I still have a gut feeling it is not...
At least I'll have a new timing chain, sprockets, and dampener

It will be interesting to see where it comes from . . . concerning to hear of "steam" though.
