3800 swap

I also believe the Series 3 is Drive by wire, and has different requirements from the series 2. As was said however, a google of the interwebbs should hopefully yield some results.
I believe the blocks are the same however (with some possible changes to internals that are of no consequence to this swap), so it'* just a matter of swapping parts over. You will just want to be sure to use sensors, manifold, etc from your current engine.

I believe you should use the series 3 unit, because your car should have all of the provisions for it. I don't know if the LIM will need to be swapped over however.

The LIM'* should be exactly the same, but if the LIM is still on the donor motor, and it does not have aluminum framed gaskets, then remove it and go with aluminum gaskets before you proceed.
Make sure to look for that thread I mentioned, there are pics of what the guy did to get it to work.
He had to drill a hole in the throttle body in a certain area, and tapped it, then put in a 3/8th" barb, and ran his EVAP from there, or something like that, I'd have to read the thread again, as I have done the swap myself.

Very welcome.
If you have issues, or questions along the process, take some pics and post them, I am sure somebody will be able to help, and no question is a dumb question if you do not know the answer!
In my previous post I meant to say I have not done the swap myself, typo'd...
