Hey guys. It has been HOT so I work slowly. Been a while since I last added anything for the car. Had to replace the injection pump on my diesel Chevy 2500. Could only work for a couple of hours at a time early in the morning so I took my time but finally got it all running and now I can get back to the Cat. I got all of the plumbing figured out and run from the rear of the car to the front of block. Twin AN-16 lines will be coming from the rear mounted remote pump off of the radiator. You can see the two -16'* coming up and into the block.



The exit/return line is a single AN-20 line all the way back to the trunk. In the trunk will be a mid 60'* Ford expansion tank with another AN-20 from the expansion tank to the radiator inlet. I have a 50 gal/min remote pump bringing it up the twin -16'* into the block. The thermostat should regulate the flow and the -20 may add some restriction versus the twin -16'* bringing it forward, hopefully to allow it all to work. I have to tie up (mounts) all of the lines running under the car, place and mount the expansion tank, then finish the expansion tank to the radiator inlet and the lines will all be done.
I just hope it all works. I'm going to run twin water temps as well in the crossover to keep an eye on both sides of the block. There will be some swirling in the crossover I'm sure but hopefully it will still be representative of the temps coming out of the motor.

In April I trailered the Catalina to a full city cruise. I was interviewed by Roddin' and Racin' magazine, a local paper/magazine that covers our part of the state. My interview starts at the 5:49 minute mark of the video. They had totally surprised me and had already taken most of the shots of the car before I even knew it. Nice video...good times ...Im sure you saw lots of cool rides and met quite a few good folks while u were there as well!

The cruise is so big, so many people, and so many cars it is unbelievable. Where we set we are almost at the street where they do most of the burnouts. The city Police are really cool about the burnouts as long as you don't do funny car type burnouts that can get out of shape and hit people. If you set still and do a burnout the are fine with that. If you get stupid, you pay for being stupid. Just the way it should be. I had 10X10 tent in a parking space right next to the Catalina for us to set under and it was really great watching and listening to the people when they looked at the car. The car was situated so that, as the people rounded the next row the came face to café with the Catalina. I heard more WHOA'* and Holly Sh$ts and F*&k look at that'* than I've ever heard before. The neat part is the Catalina has old school and new school all intertwined. So Dads were explaining things like what a Gasser is/was to their kids, and the kids were explaining what the BOVs and wastegates are to the Dads. It was fun.

Well fellow gear heads, it'* been a long HOT summer, but, the time has come.

"THE QUEST FOR FIRE" has started.

Got up early and out in the garage while it was still only 80 degrees. Pulled the motor out of the Cat and placed it on my work steel work table.



I've got lots to do. Get it on the engine stand, pull the front Moon cover and drill and tap it for the -10 AN inlet for the turbo drains. Then pull the oil pan and pick up and change it for another pan and pick up.
Next, with it on the engine stand I have to make stands that bolt to the side motor mount bosses to help support the engine during the start up/run in phase. Then build a rear control panel for the tach, oil pressure gauge, temp gauge and start button etc for the run in.
Next I have to figure out what I'm going to do for an oil filter system. I will be running a remote filter so I just have to hang it off the motor plate for the start up. Then adapt it to the frame when the motor is dropped in.
I'm still waiting for the guy to do my machining on my front distributor project. That needs to be done unless everything else is ready. I can drop in a rear distributor just to run the motor but I need a composite gear for the cam. I might as well get the rear oil driver stub from BOP since I need the composite gear. And just get the front distributor done so I can use it.
I still have to build a water cooling system to use on the motor start up/run in. I think I have everything, just gotta build a stand for the radiator and fans.
Other than that I've got nothing left to do!!! LOL. Maybe I can get all this done this month. Depends more on what I have to buy and wait for to be delivered.
