I have an issue, I replaced my starter, and my ignition switch, upon doing so my exciter ring broke off, and that is part of the cylinder.
What I am unsure of is if everything but the exciter ring is fine, couldn't I just put the current cylinder into the new exciter ring?
I'll post a pic of what I am talking about, it is the ring and black plastic part...
I think you can remove the exciter ring itself, if not how hard would it be to put the a new cylinder on, and just use the current part the key goes in, so I do not have to try to be a locksmith and set the pins...
I am hoping I can do a relearn after without a dealer..
It will be here Tuesday, I'll update if it works or not, it should..
I read a comment that said as long as you use the same Key it does not need a relearn...

Yes. You should be good to go.The ring has nothing to do with programming but the key does.
New one was a bit loose fitting, and the single tab that holds the one side was not gripping the cylinder at all, so yeah I broke it off, so I put stuff behind it to keep it from being able to push in at all, put it together and it is good to go once again.
I will say that new piece fit too lose all around, I probably should have put something on the back to help hold it to the cylinder, but it is good now, so I am happy, I am too sick to keep messing with it anyway...
Now every time I get in and start the car my DIC is reset, it is not retaining memory, and the remote start does not work now, but it starts better than ever with a key..
