Today, I put my K&N filter in the fender well. I have some tubing that easily reaches my throttle body. I took out the windshield washer fluid tank, so I'll need to get one without the headlight washer part.

I wanted to test this out, and I thought it wouldn't give me that much more torque. I went to the entrance of my neighborhood and pushed the gas pedal as much as I usually would just to drive away normally. My car burned out lurched forward really hard.

Also, I noticed I get more boost. I used to get upwards of 5psi, but now I can reach over 7 or so. This is really cool. I took my unwilling dad out for a ride, and he didn't appreciate the acceleration.

I am very excited by this 2+PSI gain. Is this normal? I'm sure getting colder air is good, but I don't know if that could warrant such a gain. I'm going to put on a smaller pulley, so I'm going to change my fuel filter and the like. Should the performance gain be concerning exhaust, fuel filter, and fuel pump-wise?

Unless your fuel pump is weak there is no point in replacing it. Little things like changing the fuel filter and such should all be taken care of way before you even think about dropping a pulley size. You are not even close to outflowing your muffler so don't worry about that, but you would see some gains from replacing your stock catalytic converter with a high flow one. After that and you sure the car has had a complete tune up, then I would recommend getting a scanner to scan for knock retard. After all that I would consider a pulley drop. Having more power is great but there is a lot more you can do than what you currently have if you are serious about mods.

You didn't gain 2psi from an intake. If anything, maybe a quarter of a PSI. Your gain came from colder/denser air. We all gain boost in those conditions.

Ah, there we go. It actually is a bit cooler outside. With the fender well intake, I'm sure I took far greater advantage of these temps.
