Ahh so you not going to be adding time just more or less just able to control timing.

Traction off the line and my 2nd gear shift are going to be a problem on the Salt. By retarding timing through the bottom of 2nd, I don't have to worry as much, then I can bump the timing back up.

But yes, I will also be adding timing for the track. Primarily the box is for testing/playing/tuning, but it may turn into something more permanent. Based on initial testing on another car, the results are very promising.

One problem you may have is time response. I used to have a pot hooked up to my AIT sensor. Ryan and I attempted to create a real happy ****. The AIT temps would dictate a more extreme change in commanded timing. It took a while for the actual temp to change. I remember Ryan suggesting to turn off and restart the car in between changes since the time responce was so slow. I had quite a few problems getting my engine to run good when I attempted this. This was back when I had a broken valve guide letting oil in and I think my egr was stuck closed. So I can't really say it did or did not work. But the time responce was lacking..
Here is a link to a pic of when I used to have my pot hooked up:

Did he use a pot or just unplug the sensor?

Don just unplugged the sensor, but his PCM defaults to 60° when disconnected.

Digging this up, blowing the dust off, and giving an update. Work is progressing. Hope to have it done before WCBF:

Features were cut with a laser at work, then white lacquer inserted with a toothpic. After it dried, I wet-sanded it flush.

Holy mackerel, Bill... that is one beautiful piece of manufacturing. Looks very sharp. I wouldn't believe it was homemade if I didn't see the design phase and progress pics!
