Another little tidbit of info for you;

The Max_Turbine_Torque_TCC_Locked value on a stock 4T65E is 258 Ft. Lbs., I would expect a 4T60 would be the same. Most people that program their own PCMS would increase this to at least 600 ft. Lbs.

With your engine mods I'll bet you can exceed the Max value at a TPS % below what is specified for torque converter unlock at highway speeds.

On a side note; GM put Torque Management 'features' in the PCM to protect the tranny. Because of that performance is somewhat hamperred. If you want to tune for performance that means reducing TM which will reduce the life expectancy of your tranny. Since mine has been built up, I have removed almost all the TM including the Max_Turbine_Torque_TCC_Locked value which I have at 1279 Ft. Lbs., the maximum allowable value.

Cheers,

Excellent info, Foghorn! I love learning this kind of stuff.

I don't have a recorded scan for you to see, because I sold my scantool. The best I can do is for a local GP guy to scan me with his Power Tuner. I'm not sure when that will happen; perhaps not until next weekend.

I guess I need to know if there are hard parts I need to change before hitting the dyno. There is no way for you to diagnose this from long distance, but Bill suggested doing two scans, each with one of the knock sensors disconnected. He thought that if there was an actual TC issue it would be apparent through higher knock counts from one sensor over the other. I'll try this if I have a chance.

Other than that, it sounds like you're suggesting that I'll be fine to show up at Intense'* shop in current form. Whatever the problem might be, they will probably be able to work around it through PCM changes. Is this accurate?

Thanks for all the help.

Ben, I'd agree with you hitting the Dyno in current form, but do as much troubleshooting in the meantime as you can, so you can feed INTENSE everything you've got, and they can see the car 'acting up'.

Sounds like you might be ready to entertain programming your own PCM

.
If it'* a Torque Management issue you're having you won't see any Knock Sensor counts because that is not the root cause of the problem. It'* a misnomer that the PCM shows reduced power levels because of TM as KR...it can be very misleading.

If, as you say, you only see meaningfull amounts of KR with the TC locked on the highway while experiencing next to none from a standing start (as expected for flash KR) then you're likely fine to dyno the car.

Be sure to monitor KR levels while on the dyno, if you see more than 4* KR you should back off.

Good luck!

Do cars with this issue have a tendency to stall out sometimes? My car developed the bad habit of quitting on me every now and then when I come to a stop, even if I put in in park. My Intense Standard has the idle RPMs raised by 100, but it just started doing this crap a few days ago. Not very common, but enough to be a little annoying. I don't know if it'* a bad/dirty IAC valve or if there'* something in common with the TC. Boy do I need an Autotap . Anybody know how to get in touch with Kyle Friese?

Nope, can't think of any relationship there.

Cheers,
Dirty MAF..., look familiar to me

Youll feel like the car have lost power and tend to stall on load and in some case with a nice black smoke.(too rich)

BUT, a bad O2 sensor can cause that, after my new engine was in, my car was stalling , they damage my O2 in the install.

If you Unhook your front O2 sensor and the car run fine, thats your O2 sensor
