Olds 98 Regency Elite , 3800 Supercharged 167000 kms, any advice to change water pump
You'll have to be more specific on what you mean by 'elbows'. The 'elbows' are typically a series 2 thing, which is something that shouldn't apply to you.
What year is your Olds?
Typically, the thorn in the side of series 1 is the torque axis mount, which requires jacking up of the engine to remove.

ooOOOOooh, okay, I found this post:
I don't recall anything that would affect the thermostat, and as I mentioned, the Series 2 of later years had plastic elbows that fed the heater core that loved to break.
Series 1 has one of these however:
Dorman Heater Hose Fitting 56359 - Read Reviews on Dorman #56359
On my '93 Park Avenue, it was plastic, and it broke on me, and leaked coolant when the thermostat was closed. On my '94 Regal, it'* metal. It should be on the passenger side of the LIM, with the bypass hose going to it. If yours is plastic, replace it. If it'* metal, don't worry about it.
Have to do my water pump tomorrow on 1994 Olds 98 Regency Elite, just wondering what these elbows people are talking about are, heard from a friend awhile back that some kind of plastic piece breaks off and makes thermostat stick open or closed. Also any advice on doing this pump?
