Higher rent prices means better economy. When the economy is good the unemployment rate is low. When the unemployment rate is low that means housing is in demand near the jobs.

When housing is in demand, rents go up. That equals happier landlords!

guess who'* a landlord

and Wow you guys should try to live in the Bostom area.
you'd ***^ your pants at what the rent is around here.

I'm sure you NY guys know what I mean.

Yep. I was paying 850 a month for a 1 bedroom ILLEGAL apartment on Long Island (and it was only that cheap because I knew the person).

Now, I pay 600 Dollars in Kansas City for a HOUSE with a garage.

3 bed, 2 bath, 1352 SQ FT house, I pay $1200 a month for a mortgage, real estate taxes, and insurance, about $150 month in electric/gas, another $35 for water, sewer, trash, about about $30 for Homeowners Association..

And there may be more but I am going to stop before I get depressed.

And of course if something breaks I pay for it.

So.. why do I own a home again

Not rent but, In my neighborhood if you put 20% down and finance 80%, the monthly payment for the smallest home would be about $9,000 a month and $21,000 a month for the big ones. Thats on a 30 year loan !

I have a two bedroom, two bathroom, two story loft apartment with water, sewer, trash and basic cable included for $730.00/month. We are in the middle of 2,000 acres of state game land so it is very private and wooded. Lots of wildlife and we hear gunshots in the distance during any hunting season. All that and we are 5 minutes from the mall and 1 mile from the highway. I know I should buy a house but I love where I live and for what we pay it is a hard choice.
