OK...I confirmed it...the gas tank that is in Scott'* car is a Spectrom aftermarket tank and it is a 18 gallon tank not a 20 gallon tank...see link below:
this is the exact tank that is in Bean'* car

so my mechanic was wrong....it'* not a 20 gallon tank.....case settled

now i'm really wondering. i do believe and have proof to believe that i have a 20 gallon tank. i will test a pump...and then fill up to see. i guess the case in my mind is not settled. there is no way an 18 gallon tank should be able to take more than 20 gallons. so something gives here.
