18.2 is the most mine has ever ben filled. And that was when my dad ran it to the point where it was stalling around corners....idiot.

My suggestion to you would be to fill every 1/2 week. You are putting a lot of strain on other parts by going that low. And Topping off is bad for the enviroment.

i have NEVER been able to put more than 18 gal in mine and that was on fumes, i mean the gage was like below the line and the car was stuttering...

hey i'm just wondering, do any of the '89s have fuel lights that go on when ur low on fuel cause it has never happened!!!

EDIT: Now this may or not be true, but i heard gas stations have been messing with pump settings and making it so you are paying for like 19.6 gals when you actually bought like 18.2 or something like that, just so they could make so mo money! GREEDY BASTARDS!!!

when I did mine I was heading for the Shell station in Pipestone, MN. I drove 20 miles with the needle below E. Didn't think I was going to make it. I was running on fumes.

well that might be plausible because our tanks i think are like 18.5 gallons and the filler tube might add a half a gallon so yeah...MAYBE!!!

Maybe you could show the gov't the receipt, say that your car comes with an 18 gallon tank, and that you demand compensation for your losses. Like.... a year of free gas!
