As for the ticket I'm not mad and I acknowledge that the officer caught me its just that I'm trying to get off with a ligher or no fine at all. Ill be honest I tend to speed even with a car with no modifications and I'm most certaint other members with modifications tend to be not as gentle with their pedals
You bought the detector after your ticket, and you've had 2 officers with the "opportunity" of looking in your car since then :?:
Several officers got a look durning the time I got sideswipped on my way to work

I guess im lucky where I live becuase I can always tell with my radar detector where the cops are at, rarely do they use instant on around here. Radar detectors are useful, but depends where you live.

At any rate, I admit I speed, but not wrecklessly. Traffic around here tends to go 5 over, on long stretch of straight roads people sometimes go 10 over. I try not to reach 15 over on such long and empty roads, which is very rare. But its tempting sometimes. Expressway is a whole nother' story. If you aint driving at least 65 you will get run off the road.

A buddy of time tells me there is a book that tells you how you can fight a traffic ticket but I cant find the link. Basically its a tactic where you try to clog their court system and attempt to fight it while making it not worth it for them since you are taking up their time and money.

Radar detectors can be helpful under the right conditions. They also can cause issues and more grief as well. My friend was cruising through canada on the way back from montreal and had his V1 on, which can be, and was, integrated into the computer in his 540. A cop passing him noticed it and pulled him over. The officer waled up and asked for the radar detector (illegal where he was) so he gave it to him. then the officer asked for the power cord. he explained it was integrated. The officer said I'll be right back I got some screw drivers and wire cutters in the car. Made him cut 6 inches off the radar detector cord and then gave him a speeding ticket and a speed detection device ticket.

As for court, your best bet is to tell them you do not think you were going as fast as the officer said you were. This basically admits you were probably in the wrong, but not as much as the officer stated. They will usually offer you a lesser fine. take it.

As for the judge, all the judges I have been in front of have come across stern (mean) when you first go in and talk to them. if you are polite, they are usually understanding. Just don't do anything to anger them and they will usually help you.

Your poll isn't turning out in your favor it seems!

I was in your situation a few months ago. I had a lawyer too. As others suggested having one may have been overkill.

He'* a family friend and did it for free so rather than go in alone by myself. I felt better having someone to ask questions rather than myself being not too experenced at law and being alone

having a lawyer for something so minor may make the judge irritated because he has to deal with lawyers all the time. Believe it or not, the judge for my speeding ticket was very comical and it was very easy to talk to him. If you follow the rules and tell him your situation maybe he won't be so irritated. But postponing the trial date and hiring a lawyer to talk for you is def. overkill even if it is free.

they always reduce the ticket in some way or form if you go to court (at least for me) and no you dont need a lawyer to do so!!!!!
