To hook up 2 computers to the same printer without setting up a network? One option I thought of is a USB splitter that could go from the printer and provide 2 plugs for the computers to connect to. Is this do-able? My dad'* got a Mac and I've got a Dell and the HP printer is compatible with both of them. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Nick

if it uses a parallel printer port you could get something like this:
http://www.cablesnmor.com/a885028.html
or if it uses USB you could use something like this:
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=120618
i would say the most cost effective option would be to get ahold of a crossover cable, they arent too expensive to buy, and if you have the right kind of friends theyre very easy to make.
You can get a 100 foot crossover cable for about 15 bucks, and the shorter ones are even cheaper. Go to Newegg and pick one up that fits your needs.

That would work quite well except for the fact that it'* a USB printer, not parallel port. I do appreciate the offer though.
