Get a lawyer, in the long run it'll be worth it. NYS has some new fine where you have to pay 2 or 3 annual fees after the intial fine. That plus the possibility of an increase in your insurance rate.

Check out the section "Driver Responsibility Program". Looks like its an 8 point offense. Besides the initial fine it'll cost you $150 three years in a row.

read up on the NYS DMV website, but what mike is referring to is the Driver Responsibility Program: http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/drp.htm

I've also heard that double the speed limit is a large fine and possible suspension, but that is not verified.

Its verified possible suspension. What really pisses me off is its a high way and if I did 30 I would die. no joke. I was going with traffic and now Im very stressed out...

I might get a lawyer jsut because that speed limit is rediculous

usally it is not a suspension unless you have had prior and/or recent offences. When you go to court you will be held in front of a judge and he will decide if you lose or keep your licence. Make sure you come up with a convincing story although it will be quite hard to since 67 is a pretty stiff number in a 30 :?

Hell you could have been arrested. Double the speed limit is grounds for arrest I believe. Good luck with whatever you do.
