Silverado 4-banger
The forum has been a bit slow the last couple of days, so I've decided to ask a question to liven things up a bit:
Any thoughts or inside info or etc. on the new 2.7 liter 310HP 348lbft 4-cylinder Silverado that'* going to be available soon?
The top of the google search results: https://autoweek.com/article/trucks/...new-turbo-four
I've driven a few Ford 3.5L EcoBoost vehicles over the last few years and (in my opinion) they are so marvelous that I'm tempted to cross over to the dark side. Recently I drove one with a 10-speed over a thousand miles in four days and was even more convinced. (que deep breathing of Anakin Skywalker'* alter ego). The Ford 2.7 is supposed to be about as good, and faster 0-60MPH. Is the GM 2.7 going to be a serious competitor?
Go!

The big concern would be the way power is delivered, and if it feels doggy trying to drive it.
Although transmissions have come a long way too, which definitely helps in the day to day.
The big question is longevity, mainly how they withstand the abuse of idiocy

I agree. It looks like they set their sights on the EcoBoost. If they've ever driven one, they know what they are competing with and hopefully took it seriously.
From a design standpoint it has an offset crank, so stresses (of abuse or otherwise) should be less, and some kind of magic that uses exhaust to heat the engine more quickly so cold-abuse should be less than otherwise.
If I see one at the rental lots I'm definitely giving it a try.
