Lounge For casual talk about things unrelated to General Motors. In other words, off-topic stuff. And anything else that does not fit Section Description.

Please help me subvert my want to blowup this box....

If you like adding HD'* and stuff, stay away from eMachines. No room inside for upgrades. But if you're not a hard core Gamer, almost any system will work for ya.

http://www.microcenter.com/ has some pretty good deals, too. We have one in town, and I've played with thier PowerSpec budget series, and they ain't too bad. If you feel like making the trip over to the DFW area, they have a store in Richardson http://www.microcenter.com/at_the_st...ichardson.html where you can probably get a decent barebones system, or all they parts too upgrade yours.

Plus, on their main site, they have some walkthroughs on parts and such (bottom right of main page)

If cost is an issue, research the chip/Mobo combo you are interested in. Come up with a couple option/alternatives.

Go to:

http://www.pricewatch.com/

Or:

http://www.pricegrabber.com

These will take you to the lowest price available (and the stores are usually rated, so you can get an idea about who is reputable).

You can get an AMD 2500+ for under 90 bucks. Awesome deal, and fast. I have that same processor.

Wow. There are so many options and I've only got $400 I feel comfortable spending.
Is there a difference between AMD and Intel anymore? Because I'm noticing AMD is a heck of alot cheaper. And I hate the current case as it cuts me constantly.
