one morning I went outside to crank up and it acted as if it would stay on so I changed the spark plugs and distributor cap and the rotor button, the timin is on but gas is comin out the carborator well spittin out and black smoke comes out every couple times i try to turn it over

have you checked the timing with a light?? um dbl check the firing order.. um and make sure hte button is seated all the way on the distrubutor.... thats bout all i can think of off the top of my head... unless its a electrical prob.... did you check to make sure you have spark?? you know you are gettin fuel so that knocks out that and a possable timing chain.... so check the firing order, make sure you have spark, and dbl check your cap and rotor... hope this helps... im nota a gear head by anymeans but i do know how to wrench....

First thing then what is the firing order. this mechanic dude told me my float in the carborator might be messed up but its crazy cuz I know that when I take the carbo. top off and try to crank it up it do the same thing just gas spit out but it aint really to coordinated the way it come out. what the heck does that mea. Im so sad cuz I dont want to take it to a shop cuz its cutting on but cuttin of and I feel like I might be able to just clean or adjust something and Ill be all good.

crunk isn't a word to describe your car. It won't stay running... it stalls, it dies. All acceptable. crunk is not.

Correction: Black smoke is too much fuel. Blue smoke is oil. On a side note, I'm retarded.

What engine do you have? There'* five available. The letter would be the eighth digit of your VIN, assuming the engine is stock.

Regardless, The firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. All of the distributers rotate counterclockwise except VIN X. #1 should be slightly darkened on the cap.

It is possible that the old loose timing chain has jumped a few teeth.

i had a mechanic come through and look at it and he told me he was 95 percent sure thatit was the Timing chain that jumped some noches. this dude want to charge me 200 dollars to fix it but man do I wish I knew how to do it my self, that would be so much more benificial. but I thinkin How hard can it be? To take some parts of and replace them but then agian I know certain parts have to be tuned when doing this type of operation.

its not realy that hard... take your belts off alt, PS, air... then take your water pump off. and remove all the lines or get them outa the way.. then take the pulleys off the crank ... then timing cover... remove old chain set timing where its suposta be.... and reinstall/....

i know i missed somehting in there but ya get the point.,.. its not THAT hard... about 2 or 3 hrs.. taking your time.. you have alota room to work on your car under the hood....
