350 kms?? where was it at Parry Sound?? It'* pretty close to me by the sound of it distance wise, lol. You had your reasons not to go. It was probably a really tough decision to make.
I guess a picture frame or vase or both would be a better idea than $$ even though I am hoping for $$$ at my wedding since we already have what we need and the $$$ would help pay for the wedding.

Something that will remind her of you is probably the best. Do you happen to have any pictures from times gone by that both you and her are in, and possibly other friends ( that way the husband won't get jealous, lol). that you could put in this picture frame.

OK, I wouldn't go.

But I'd get them a nice gift and maybe write her a letter saying that you're happy for her, and proud of her...and...and...stuff.

LOL...love the pic MOS95B! it'* great

so back on topic...Yeah, I agree with the advocates of the card. Just something that says "hey, i remembered that you got married and that that'* a special event for you...and I hope you have a great life together". Letters are just dangerous because, in past experiences, I've found too much is said that maybe shouldn't have been, and then there it is all written down. Being me, not having really a lot of experience with the do'* and don'ts of wedding etiquette, I don't know about the gift thing.

Hope you start feeling better about this whole situation, Jim.

Jim- I agree with Pontiac Mom and Princess Jeanie. You don't need to send money just a nice card and a simple gift. Nothing too expensive. There are many good reasons not to have gone and you shouldn't let your mother guilt you for not going. Moms are good at that. Keep the girl a friend because you never want to burn a bridge that you might have to cross someday.

If things are meant to be they will work out that way. I try to remain friends even with ex'* because it makes life a little nicer.

I think you should stay in contact with her. Reasons: #1 People shouldn't stop being friends just because they are opp. sex and one gets married. I lost a lot of guy friends because they wanted me for one thing- not for friendship. Is that what you are wanting ??? #2 If he is a loser and she leaves him you are the first guy she'* going to run to.

Criss, like I said, any romantic intentions died many moons ago. That was not the issue at all. The guilt trip coming from my mom was to be expected. Recently I can do no right...so...bah...whatever.

Ok, so lets recap...no money, no letter...fine, how bout a gift card to Ikea (everyone loves Ikea..lol, and a card with a nice word of congrats)

I won't burn the bridge, but if she resents me for not going...then I dunno what to do. Her and I had our rough patches, and came thru ok...I hope this situation is the same.

*sigh*....ok...any one else?
