Guess we had the storm pass Illinois two days ago. I am at the Phoenix airport, flying to Illinois. Youngest Son called me, asked how to get the F-350 into 4WD, said it was stuck in ice. His S10 4wd is still at the dealer. I had to inform him the F-350 is 2WD. Seems he tried to move it and it slid towards a tree. He just called and got it out. I told him to get to the dealer NOW and pick up his S10......

Was that one of those NOW conversations where, if he didn't, he would be pushing ground until his arms fell off?

ive got a question for you guys. (let me put you in my situation first) ive got no garage, am going on a road trip to see the girlfriends family, its 2*F here and there is snow on the ground.

would you leave your baby at a detail shop to be fully cleaned? hands all over inside your car, without you being there to watch whoever it is clean it?

my answer is no. ill clean it in the spring and the inlaws can deal with the cigarette smell and a few crumbs. the girlfriend thinks im too over protective.

what would you do in my situation?

i did get my power back yesterday, thankfully because the generator quit. stupid tecumseh, never buy any tec engines. they are junk and they make it so you cant work on it, had one originally on my home made wood splitter and was always messing with the carb, and you have to destroy 2 covers to get to the jets that get plugged every time you let it sit more than a few weeks. converted that to a honda engine and never had an issue since. the gen not so sure about, have to get a governer or mod the one from the tec engine

jason i would just vac it out and spray it with frebreeze for the time being

guns, you can tell him the open diff trick, hold the brakes, ease on the gas and let off the brakes gradually and it will equalize the tension on the wheels and both will go. that can get you off ice sometimes as long as you are easy on the gas

Mike, he is my youngest and a really conforming kid (young man) when I ask him to do something.

I think he got molded in a different way from our other kids because of an incident in 1999. Him and I were taking a short cut through a very inner city urban area, he was 5 years old. I saw a man dragging a woman across the street by her hair. I pulled over and put a stop to it while he watched. He always thought his Dad was crazy after that incident.

Looking back, it was not a smart action on my part. I could of come up on the losing end of things, with him in the inner city by himself at 5 years old in a running, unlocked car.

Art,

Thanks. He picked up the S10 on his own, abut three hours before I arrived at the dealership. He texted he left the keys to the F-350 on the front left tire. I took a taxi 100 miles to the dealership, arrived at 10pm, 2 below zero outside. Coming from Phoenix, I had no coat or gloves as I planned on going home instead of a 100 mile taxi ride.

I could not find the keys, no coat, no gloves. Searched for ten minutes. Called Eric, no answer. Kept looking, he place the keys in the snow in front of the front left tire so nobody would find them. He thought would figure it out......

OUCH sorry to hear about that. i keep a spare door only key on the outside of all of my cars. those magnetic bell brand holders are no joke. i put an empty one on the undercoated wheel well of the girlfriends car just to see how long it would last.... its been there since july and has not moved an inch. she has done about 15k miles since then.

Mike, it sounds like your living a Griswold family christmas this year. Can I play the weird cousin and kidnap someone?
