Rotton eggs?

Has this car been seeing short trips all of its life?

Does it overheat?

Symptoms of a bad head gasket do not include burning oil. Not sure how the head gasket could be suspect. :?

Forgive me, not a gear head by any stretch.

I figure if the oil is disappearing, it'* gotta go somewhere.
Maybe I am backwards???/ Doesn't coolant go in the motor if it is a head gasket???
Maybe that is what I was thinking?

Either way, just trying to help the lady figure out what could be the problem.

She said it is like a rotten egg / sour smell.

Car is not overheating.

She is the 2nd owner, her Father-in-law bought it brand new. He had it up til last year.
It was garage kept and it was his second vehicle, just never really driven as he also had a pick up he used apparently as his DD.

BINGO! Rotten egg smell = Clogged Cat converter, No doubt in my mind. Severe Back pressure may be causing a whole host of problems that need alot more attention then just the converter/head gasket. Might all ready be a lost cause.. A burnt head gasket will only leak the liquid that flows around the burn area. It can be oil, or coolant, or both.

Ford 3.8 is how the head gasket became a suspect. It'* along the lines of the UIM failing on an L36, it'* not a matter of if...it'* a matter of when.

Thanks, I thought I had remembered reading that somewhere, but then I figured I was wrong and didn't want to make myself look as ignorant as I already did.
