Default Excesive Static Charge...

So, the last two weeks have been oddly more shocking than normal. Last week every time I got out of the Jeep and reached back to shut the door I got a shock, and its slightly more powerful than normal, almost to the point it hurts. I thought nothing the first time but it happened near every time i got out of the jeep and touched the door to close it.

This week and the past weekend it has been my laptop. Today at work every time I got up from the computer or took my hand off it for a minutes or so, It'd shock me when I touched it again. And again this feels stronger than a normal shock, it almost hurts. Regardless if i moved around or not, I stayed in my chair to test it, sat still for a minute and touched it and it got me.

Even weirder, whenever it shocked me, my USB ports reset. Like my mouse would quit for a few seconds and turn back on. The window for the flash drive would close and then it blinks and I get the pop-up message asking do I want to view the flash drive, as if I had just put it in! And my cool-pad uses a UDB to connect to the lappy for power and i heard the fans quit running for a second.

Any particular reasons you can think of as to why im extra staticy?

and why does it reset my USB connections on the lappy.

Its actually fairly wet around here, two decent rain storms in the last two weeks :? Still a puddle or two around I believe.

This weekend was nice though, 65*-75* range and no rain.

To avoid getting shocked when getting out of your car hold the frame of the door (metal) as you get out of the car. That will keep you grounded.

Actually haven't worn a jacket almost at all this past week and a half, except when it rained.

Is running a humidifier an option at work? That might make things a little better.

At work (Staples), I've been shocking EVERYTHING. I've been extra careful to wear an anti-static wrist band when working on computers.

We just got Comcast Triple Play the other week... I went to move the cable box for the remote to actually reach it and shocked it. The picture froze, became pixelated and laggy for about ten seconds, then black screen. Had to unplug and re plug to fix lol.

I know for me it'* just the winter weather...
