Default Radio static???

Ok, the radio in my Bonneville has been making this staticky sound for about 3 years now. I have been living with it, but since this handy dandy site is here, I figure why not ask. I really am not interested in buying a new stereo, I believe/think that the problem may be in the antenae wire but unsure. Anyone have any ideas, or things I could check? It only does it on Radio, CD works fine.

The antennae wire came lose from the back of my stereo once. That could be a place to start.

Also, someone said something a long time ago anout grounding the exhaust to the frame to get better reception....

Yeh, the antenae wire in the back of the stereo was the first thing I checked, it is fine.

Did you check to see the connectors isn't shorted or open? You can still get continuaty from center of the plug to the antenna?
