Up a creek with eBay maybe, but there are still several other options! You used a Paypal credit card, right? Filing your Paypal dispute may be different from disputing the credit card charge with the bank... so make sure you do both of those if possible.

It wasn't an actually tangible credit card, but it was Paypal Buyer Credit, applied online and got $900 line of credit with them, so hopefully Paypal can help me out.

Pete, check out the ebay community forms, Paypal, Bidding, Trust& Safety Harbour. Lots of good info there on buyer/ seller disputes. I remember reading several post about sellers bumpimg up the shipping cost after the auction had ended and courses of action available to the buyer.

UPDATE: Got an email from Paypal...I guess this guy REALLY didn't want to give me money back:
-------

Dear Peter Patrician,

We are currently in the process of investigating your complaint.

------------------------------
Complaint Details
------------------------------

Transaction Date: Feb 18, 2005
Transaction Amount: -$406.55 USD
Case Number: PP-069-873-797
Seller'* Name: ***********
Seller'* Email: ***************

The seller has provided the following information in response to your
complaint, indicating that the item was shipped.

------------

Apparently he payed the rest of the shipping and shipped the seats. I'll try the tracking number they gave me and see if they actually are on the way. Hopefully he didn't mess up the seats out of spite or there will be a whole new problem.

According to t he tracking info for the seats, the weight is only 87lbs. If that is all the seats that only way 87lbs, I find it hard to believe that shipping was $266, doesn't anyone else agree?! Anyway, he shipped them right after paypal notified him of the complaint against him, so he either was lying about the shipping cost, or just didn't want to give me the $406 back so he payed the rest of the shipping. Oh well, I'm getting them Tuesday, hopefully they'll be in excellent shpae. I still wish I could have gotten out of the deal, but since he shipped them it'* not going to happen. Maybe if I decide to, I can sell them.
