I personally wouldn't buy squat from ebay. We have a site called keepitlocal.com that will list cars ion your area, or carsoup.com

Don't know about Canada tho

We don't really have any sites like that because except for the three major areas (montreal, toronto and vancouver areas) there isn't a big enough car buying population to support a local site

autotrader for me.. but look up some smaller auto market in your area and ask if they go to auction.. how much mark up ( commission ) and let them get you the pricing.. some will even ( I know the one in Gravenhurst in Ontario does ) show you the auction price for them from previous auctions so you know how much they are.. that would be your best bet.. then ask them about auction fees and any other fees that may apply. If they are reluctant to do so.. then walk away and find another place that will.. ( an honest car saleman ( yea right.. like honest lawyers.. hard to find ) will show it to you and let you know how much they make.. and ultimatly WILL get the business .. after all.. the best advertisment is through word of mouth when they sell a car and know you will send others to them.. so in the long run they will make the most $$ out of it )

When looking for my car i used the startrib section of www.cars.com, www.autotrader.com, www.carsoup.com. My car was on autotrader, but i found carsoup easier to use myself, and it would even let me know when new cars were added that i was looking at. Biggest problem i found with these type of sites is the fact that the sellers don't update often after they sell.

www.cars.com
They basicly list cars from all the major local and national newspapers. Kinda nice so you don't have to spend the money buying each individual paper.
Also, join www.copart.com if they've got one near you that doesn't require you having a dealers license to be a member.

True that!! My dad is th manager of one of those papers (Dairyland Peach). It'* owned by a former MN governor (Elmer Anderson). It is looked upon by many famers and city folks as though it were a bible.
I've even sold a few Bonneville parts in there and even this last week a 1992 SE showed up for $800 with left rear quarter panel damage. I wanted to buy it because it had a good front end on it yet, but I was too slow and it was sold the day the paper came out.
