Default 01 grand prix info

first problem with my daughters "new" grand prix. Doors will not lock with fob. The horn honks, but no lock. The doors will lock and unlock when put in drive and back in park, and will lock with door button.

Need good place to look for info and programming info. Fob'* have good batteries, I tested them. And like I said, vehicle responds when fob lock button is pressed, just no locking.

This did work when we checked out the car before we bought it.

A push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

Factory alarm, or aftermarket?

If it'* a relay, why would it work when going out of park, or using the door lock button?

Have you tried "resetting" the alarm by holding down the lock & unlock keys at the same time? Try that if you haven't done it yet. Hold both buttons down for 8-10 seconds and you'll hear the horn chirp, and hopefully it'll solve your problem.

I must also say that I'm telling you this based on my '97 Bonneville factory alarm. It may have changed by the time the 01'* came out. Still, it'* worth a try.

update:

Driving into town and see the daughter'* car, pull in.
Tried holding down lock and unlock for about 15 secs, didn't get any response from car and stopped.
Tried lock and it worked. Unlocked and locked again.
Looks like it fixed it, thanks for the suggestion.

No prob.... I've had problems with my remote in the past, and I'm glad that worked for you. I guess they don't make the horn chirp after 8 seconds anymore.
