My wife always gave me a hard time about buying tools and what not. Right up till the day she called me so I could come home and fix a flat tire on the van. Not a word sense.

My dad works for a construction company, so he can buy tools for his own use and write them off since they end up at work anyways. So for him buying all these freaky tools i never even heard of is hardly anything. He bought a slide hammer for the sole purpose of taking a hub off my blazer.

Well damn, we put it all back together and she cranks like a champ, but doesn't seem to wanna spark. There is a fuel smell, so fuel is going in, but not lighting. We are going to check the plugs and wires. Maybe something stupid happened. That'* what you get when you work all day, go home, and work on a car till 11pm.
What should a guy expect from a motors 1st start after being flooded with coolant?

Check the coils and make sure you have spark. You may have left something unplugged by mistake.

Yeah, that'* what we are thinking. I'm off work right now, and I'm going to investigate. It pretty much has to be spark related at this point. :(

Think about all you are learning though. Check all teh wires and plugs for sensors around your work area. Look around the coil pack real close if you have no spark at all.

It has spark ( i got zapped haha) and we got new plug wires to boot. I cannot find any out of place or homeless wires, but every time we try to start it, it cranks never fires then stinks like gas. in the manual for the car it shows the diagram for my car, but in this example AutoZone.com | Vehicle Selection - Year it shows the coil pack labeled opposite to mine. This is what we used the 1st time, but i cant remember if we followed the pattern or the numbers. Last time it fired like a hero, and then um, blew back up lmao.

Well it flooded out and that'* why, we cleaned the plug holes out and tried again.....no go. Can a guy put the timing out by rotating the pistons manually to get the antifreeze pumped out? I'm really hoping not, but were running quickly out of options :(.

Check the connections under the coils and make sure they are clean. It possible you may have a weak spark. Remove a plug and then plug it in to the wire. Place on a ground and crank the engine over. Watch the spark. Is it a strong blue spark, or does it look weak? My wife had a car many years ago that I would have to change the plugs every time it didn't start and got flooded. Try a different set of plugs. Autolites are about $1.70 each. It sounds like everything is there. IF the timing was off, you should still get a bang here and there. My guess at this time is weak spark.

If, when we cranked the motor via I believe the crank shaft pully to rid the motor of anti freeze, and it was not put back to its place, would it run like crap or not start. My uncle is a little grease monkey, and he says he had a 3.8 and he turned it just a tiny bit while changing the belt, and it wouldn't start. He said he needed to readjust that wheel and it worked great. I'm not a pro so I am just going to ask this. Does the crank shaft sensor fire the motor properly no matter what, or is this little wheel our big problem. 1st time we had it open we cranked it, but made sure it was back where it was (pistons in the same place), and it worked like a dream... for a while. This time we didn't do that at all, and its the only thing we can bring to mind that we did differently this time. If this is the problem, how do you align that again? is there a mark or something.
