I believe the Dexron 3 licensing has expired, so there is no longer a standard that must be met to claim compatibility. Dexron 6 standard is still live, so no worries there.

Everything I have read says that it is backwards compatible, no matter what the standards are now, that does not change the makeup of the product.
They no longer support/use Dexron 3 though, that part is for sure.

Here'* the thing at very low speeds on a bumpy road there'* a jerking feel. It'* been there for 2 yrs since the day I had brought it. So am I taking a chance if I should drain the fluid and change the filter as posted on page 1 I took a pic of the fluid no one said if it'* good or bad any thoughts.

It is hard to tell the actual hue/color of the fluid on the dipstick, it does not look burnt from what I can tell, but again it is hard to tell looking at a small bit on the dipstick.
Does it smell really burnt?
If not yeah you still run a risk, but I don't think it will hurt anything myself, mine almost got burnt, and I had 4th clutch thrust washer parts in my filter, but a few thousand miles later it still shifts fine.
If you decide to change it I recommend some of this, it should help reduce the shudder you mention, use it once you change the filter of course.

A side not, I'd start saving up for a transmission rebuild, then once you have the money change the fluid, and see how it goes, that way if it improves you are good to go for a while, if not you won't be having to worry about getting the money together on such a short notice.

Well I put a lil fluid on my finger and don't smell burnt but a do have a leaky driver side exhaust manifold could that be and also I haven't just my wires or plugs since I got the truck if that helps. When i turn the truck one water comes out the tail so I know my injectors and fuel system and emissions are good. I've past inspections with no problems so I know it has to be what I haven't change yet. My money'* on the manifold.
