Default Remote no longer works

On my 2004 Tahoe, the remote all of a sudden stopped working. I can't lock or unlock the car but the panic button works just fine. Doesn't matter if i am close to the car or further away. The battery shows more than 3 VDC. Any idea what'* the problem?

I'm guessing the buttons are gummed up inside the remote, or the PCB had become displaced or damaged.

Thank you Sir. You nailed it. I took it apart and it was kinda cruddy inside. I cleaned up everything with alcohol put it back together and it works like new. Thanks again!
