Default 2003 Silverado Drivers door switch mystery

I'm working on a 2003 Silverado (extended cab, 4 door, base)...... the drivers door switches were not working so we replaced unit with a DWS-226 replacement. Now when the switches are plugged in and the door is all way open the gauges on the dash stop working, the radio turns off, and all the lights on the instrument panel illuminate..... but the door has to be all the way open..... additionally if you cut off the engine and try to start it with the door all the open, it will not start. IF you close the door, the engine will start, the radio will play and the gauges work. Also, if you take the wiring off the switches you don't have the problem...... this is the weirdest thing I've ever seen....... anyone know a solution......................

Check the wiring in the loom between the pillar and door.

Yeah, what carfixer007 said ^^^^^^^

Probably a short in the driver'* door wire bundle, probably right there in the boot between the door and door frame.

You're right.... I had to pull the bundle from the bellows between the door, and unwrap it to find the broken wire............I almost didn't see it.

Cool!

Look for others that are weak or show other signs of being next in line.
