Default 2001 Chevy Express 1500 High Temperature

I'm working on a 2001 Chevy Express 1500 van with a 5.7 L engine and it seems to be running hot. It runs at about 225 degrees constantly once it has warmed up. Is 225 degrees where it is supposed to run?

I've always heard that an engine should only run 10 degrees over the thermostat temperature...it has a 190 degree thermostat in it so I expect it to run at 200.

If you can, verify with some type of scan gauge that the engine is really getting that hot. Could be temp gauge going bonkers. If that'* ok, could be the fan clutch going out. Or the radiator has no airflow, or the cooling system needs to be flushed.
