I put 5 small ones on the oil pan. Sounds like you put 10 of the small ones on in addition to the big ones? I think I sent you around 17 or 18 of the small ones.
I wouldn't be concerned. I can't see how they'd hurt anything. The only thing inside the pan area is the filter. No moving parts or anything. :?

I'm going to put a few on the tranny, and a few on the oil pan IIRC.
Any prefered mounting places on either of them, say near pickups, etc...
Mine are still int he box till i can put them on. I don't wanna set them on my desk and fubar my iPod or something..

Pete, glad to hear you got yours. Everyone is all set.
I think the injured count is up to 5? 50% is not bad. lol
Jason, for the trans I'd put them anywhere. I put one in each corner. For the oil pan, probably in front of the plug on the bottom. When draining the oil, pull the plug out, and then pull the magnet off. The flow of oil should empty (most) anything the magnet was holding.

That'* where I have the magnet on my oil pan, using the same theory. It can sometimes be tricky, though, snagging the magnet that quick with oily fingers (I have yet to do an oil change without getting old oil all the way up to my elbow )

How about a test over time where someone pulls their oil pan? We know that the pan contains more oil than can be drained due to the location of the plug. I'm wondering if the theory about releasing the magnet will work or if the goop would stay in the bottom...which in theory isn't hurting anything.

I ain't pulling the pan, though, unless absolutely neccessary.
