Default my driving light install

hello all. today i decided to install some driving lights because on my way home from work at night, i drive on exclusively 2 lane hilly back roads that are covered by trees.

i started by making some mounts out of some $1.50 fence brackets. with a c-clamp, my porch and a crescent wrench

then i ran the wiring (not pictured) behind all the panels, and up to the garage door opener panel. i made it ground switched because i didnt want to have hot wires ran behind the panels. i also ran this wire thru the ground switched headlights. that way the driving lights cant be turned on without the low beams. this wire went to a relay, ran the same as this diagram. just substitute the "horn" for a switch, and the "compressor" for the lights.

i then drilled the hole, and mounted the switch.

then i used some zip screws to attach the mounts to the bumper.

and bolted on the lights

then i hooked up the wires. all my connections were made with terminations and shrink wrap so i can easily replace them without risking the weatherproofing.

only thing left to do was try em out!

the switch illuminates even though its ground switched. not exactly sure how, but everything works so its cool by me

and lastly, a video of the lows alone, and the lows+ the driving lights.

any comments/ constructive criticism welcome!

im really happy with how they turned out. bright enough that im not over driving my lights anymore, but not too bright to where ill have to turn em off for oncoming traffic. that way the brights still have a purpose. LOL.

the entire project including the lights, brackets C clamp and screws cost under $30.00 and only took about 2 hours to install.

on a side note, left over brake line works fantastic for getting the wire under the headliner to the compartment behind the garage door opener. LOL

55, but they are h1 bulbs so i can swap em for pretty much anything. the lens is glass and the reflector is metal. so i should be good on a higher wattage bulb
