Thumbs up Buick rendevouz a/c speed selector plug?

2003 buick rendevouz.customer complains of no speeds on blower.removed control panel to find plug was partially melted.any ideas? i assume the blower resistor block looks the same.cut the plug off and install new plug along with blower resistor block?

sometimes the socket isnt very tight from the factory and the loose connection builds heat. heat makes it expand too and the problem just compounds with use. i would do as you say, solder a new pigtail on it, make sure there is nothing wrong with the resistor pack, and the pins that plugs into

ever since i put the new pigtail on it the dash illumination lights do not work.all gauges and lcds work right but no back lighting.almost as if a bulb went out.once i replaced the blower controls all the blower controls work well.having a hard time trying to figure out where the dash illumination gets its power? any good websites to get wiring diaghrams?

Loose terminal fit cause heat buildup as already mentioned. Applying electrical grease to connections helps to eliminate terminal fretting.

i put on new pigtail and now the cluster illumination lights do not glow.dimmer seems to work fine with the backlights for lcd screens and radio. no illumination on hvac controller either.cant read at night[IMG][/IMG]

knowing want you now by having a melted plug. I'd be looking at a bad ground circuit, considering your electrical issue your having.
