We have a chunked piston in Forced Induction because of it.

Which boost gauge topic. Read both pages. Look at the dates.

Yep, that definitely qualifies as abuse! Running a rediculously small pulley or lower octane for that matter is abuse in my mind, but that doesn't reflect on the weakness of our engines. Doing that to ANY supercharged motor would be equally bad, if not worse IMO.

My SSEi is a race car.

How the **** can you call a car that runs low 15s or high 14s a race car when the suspension is almost as grandma'd out as you can get and oh yeah, its slow.

Point is....the ssei'* are REALLY nice cars for the money..You got really comfortable seats and a halfway decent drivetrain compared to other cars in the price range.

You can pick up a 2000+ ssei for around $7000-$8000 now days with lower miles. You cant do the same for a lexus or even a maxima, H*** $7000 does not buy you much of a bmw either.

Either way, it is still a bonneville, and bonnevilles will forever be considered "grandma cars" which they are, however some grandmas have good taste.

A beat on SSEi especially if its modded will experience a transmission failure sooner or later, however compared to similar priced cars that are beat on just as much, thats a really hard question to answer or even speculate on.

Your friend is ****ing ____________(insert name-calling phrase of choice). He needs to perhaps race a "real car" like a corvette or viper, something with over 400HP. then lets talk ****. If he throws in a cam/heads/bigger blower/rockers/headers/pcm/2.8" pulley then he can go around and say how fast it is, but until then we can only laugh.

Die:

I hope nobody has scared you off. Folks here are somewhat passionate about their particular model of automobile and might seem to be a little defensive at times.

Of course Bonnevilles are not race cars, blown or not. Neither are Camaros, Mustangs, etc., but you know that. The SSEi could be considered a “performance luxury sedan”, as it is certainly sportier than, say, a run-of-the-mill LaSabre. I wouldn’t say it’* a high-performance car, however. That’* a category reserved for Corvettes, Ford GT, Ferraris, and similar class of vehicles.

I don’t think that’* what your discussion is, however. I think what you have is a young driver (maybe a fairly new driver) who’* gotten ahold of a car with a little spunk in it and now he thinks he’* (assuming a male driver here – all the characteristics, anyway) king of the road. You’re trying to save him from impending doom, and I’m afraid you’re paddling against the current! It’* hard not to push these cars, especially the boosted ones, and quite possibly the only way he’* going to learn is by experience. You may just have to sit back and let him trash this one. No matter how passionate we are about our cars, they are just cars and if he breaks it, so be it. Maybe you can approach him from the “you’re going to kill someone” angle. Maybe the best you can do is prevent him from hurting anyone, including himself. Now THAT would be tragic.

Thanks for all the input he is a member of this board now I think. I hope by reading some for your post, From other Bonneville owners and lovers that he wil se that he is not driving a sports car. I love my car just as much as you all do go Chevy or go home lol. And dont mean to insult anyones love of thier car.
