Ok guys sorry for invading your Space. Just wanted some friendly input from People who know this car but it seems you are offended by it. Sorry that I was trying to help someone understand that some cars are built for certain things and other are not. i did not say only musclecars are meant to race I do believe that I said Any moded car can be built to run and handle it. And That I think a Bonneville With high miles should not be abused just because it says supercharger on it. Hell I got a Therostat that says High Performance on it does that mean that my cooling system is a fridge.

I don't think we're offended, we just don't totally agree with your stance.

In particular.. I mentioned that any car can be built to accept things.

Meaning: Redo the suspension, work on the motor/trans..upgrade the brakes..
If the work is done..then yes, the car can be made, like any other...to handle it.

Stock with 200,000 miles.. w/o the proper maintenance, yes..your friend is signing their death certificate.

He doesn't have a race car. Tell him the senior moderator says to treat it like he wants it to run for a long time.

That said, I drive mine a little hard sometimes. Today with 4 passengers, one said "Hot damn, you done some work to this thing?" But I'm not gonna autocross it.

If you're an idiot it doesn't matter what you're driving if you completely abuse it.

It'* been said before though, these cars can take a LOT. Trans is the weak point however.

Tell your frienId this: All cars have their breaking point. Whether it'* a Camaro, a Pinto, or a Bonneville. You push it too hard, it will break. I will tell you, (as a 13 year mechanic and having owned 18 cars) the Bonneville is one of the toughest. It will take ALOT of abuse, but as with any vehicle, a little common sence needs to be applied when using it. Your friend may learn this after his first costly repair, should it be needed.

There are as many different ways to hotrod as there are people. That said, a z-28 and Bonneville are both built by GM. Some Base F-bodies have the 3.8 as a base engine.

Think for a moment about a Caprice, a real Grandma or taxi number. Now in 1995, take that same Caprice, painted black, with an LT-1 and some big wheels, and you got a fast car. Was that meant to be a sports car?

that said, no matter whats running, its still neat to go the 1/4 mile quickly in something

Your question can't be answered without knowing the driver. If modded and driven correctly, the Bonne can be quite impressive. But, a moron can blow up a Corvette if they don't know how to drive.

9 times out of ten, the problems with cars are between the seat and wheel. Especially when it comes to trying to race said car....
